Short answer

As of October 2026, Resend's transactional email has a Free plan (3,000 emails a month, 100 a day), Pro at $20/month for 50,000 or $35 for 100,000, and Scale from $90/month for 100,000 up to $1,150 for 2.5 million, with overage from $0.90 down to $0.46 per 1,000. Enterprise is custom.

At common volumes that's $20 at 10,000 or 50,000 emails a month, $35 at 100,000 and $650 at 1 million. Groundmail's list prices are the same at every one of those volumes; the differences are in dedicated IPs, retention, support and what runs underneath.

Resend's dedicated IP is the cheaper add-on ($30 vs $50 a month). Groundmail includes the first dedicated IP from 500,000 emails a month, and offers a dedicated mail server on the same API when an IP isn't enough isolation.

When Resend is the right choice

  • You want marketing email and transactional email in one product. Resend sells both; Groundmail is transactional only.
  • You want a dedicated IP at the lowest add-on price. Resend's is $30 a month on Scale.
  • You want a Slack channel with your provider. That's part of Resend Scale.
  • You want to send without a card on file. Groundmail asks for one before you send to other people, even on Free.

Groundmail tends to fit when you want a provider that runs its own mail servers on its own IP space, a shared pool that only carries transactional mail, or a path to a dedicated server. The full side-by-side is in Groundmail vs Resend.

Switching from Resend

The send call maps closely: both take POST /emails with from, to, subject, html and text. Change the base URL to api.groundmail.dev, swap the re_ key for a gm_ key (or npm install groundmail in place of the Resend SDK), and point SMTP at smtp.groundmail.dev:587. Most of the work is verifying your domain and re-pointing webhooks. The migration docs cover the field mapping.
